The new LTO2 Ultrium tape drive offers more storage capacity as well as reliable data availability and recovery for midrange and enterprise server environments. The LTO2 Ultrium offers capacity, performance and reliability and sets new standards among high-end drives. It is a cost-effective tape drive for backups, recovery and archiving. It offers investment protection thanks to read/write compatibility with the first LTO Ultrium generation. With the second generation of the LTO (Linear Tape Open) Ultrium tape drive, we are offering improved technologies, greater performance and double the capacity (400 GB a cartridge), at a data compression of 2:1. Apart from functions such as multi-track recording and high storage density, the functional enhancements of the LTO2 Ultrium drive include digital speed matching, power management, channel calibration and 512 data tracks. The Error Correction Code (ECC) function performs useful services in ensuring data integrity. The LTO2 Ultrium is fully read- and write-compatible with tape drives from the first Ul-Ultrium generation. The open LTO Ultrium format is distinguished by futureproof design and investment protection. Like the new LTO2 tape drive technology, the LTO 200/400 GB cartridges also offer backups with high capacity, reliability and manageability.
