High Performance Allied Telesyn’s new AT-2800TX CardBus adapter card meets the demands of today’s high-performance notebook computers for 32 bit PC cards. Capable of auto-sensing and operating on either a 10T or 100TX network, the AT-2800TX is an Ethernet LAN adapter card for notebooks designed to meet CardBus, the 32-bit high-performance PC Card standard. The CardBus specification provides true 32 bit PCI bus performance in a PC Card format. Unlike the claims of many 10/100 PCMCIA cards, CardBus provides a true 100Mbps network interface.The AT-2800TX uses the CardBus technology to eliminate the interface bottleneck that slowed down older 16 bit PC cards. Notebooks equipped with CardBus are compatible with the AT-2800TX, as well as older PCMCIA cards. CardBus Defined Providing higher levels of performance than 16 bit PC cards, 32 bit CardBus cards take advantage of internal bus speeds four to six times faster than their predecessors. CardBus PC Cards adopt the well-established PC Card form, providing for a compact, rugged card that can be inserted completely within its host computer without any external cabling. Because CardBus attains the same high-level performance of the host platform’s internal system bus, it’s an ideal way to add 100Mbps LAN, SCSI II, video conferencing, or other high-performance capabilities to the notebook form factor.
