FB DIMMs for maximum density In addition to DDR2 registered DIMMs for servers, SAMSUNG is offering Fully Buffered DIMMs (FBDIMMs) so servers can benefit from the highest possible memory density and bandwidth. Servers equipped with FBDIMMs can get up to 16 gigabytes per channel of total system memory. This advanced server memory architecture buffers the DRAM data pins from the channel and uses point-to-point links to eliminate the need for a stub bus. The buffers and repeaters help reduce the motherboard routing area. This architecture requires one-third fewer pins than registered DIMMs and also delivers excellent throughput and low latency.
