The NETGEAR FS516 16-Port Fast Ethernet Switch provides a low-cost, high-performance network solution designed to support workgroups operating at either 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps. It offers private, dedicated bandwidth to each connected device, significantly increasing network capacity compared to shared environments. The switch features 16 auto-sensing 10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet ports with RJ-45 connectors. Each port supports automatic negotiation for full-duplex mode, doubling throughput when the connected device also supports it. If the connected device does not support negotiation, the port defaults to half-duplex. A manual override is available to force full-duplex operation. The switch supports up to 4,000 MAC addresses, allowing for networks with up to 4,000 devices. It is designed for flexibility, usable as a standalone device or integrated with other hubs and interconnection devices.
