Cisco ASR 9000 Series 5 Packet Transport Route Switch Processor (RSP5-TR)

The Cisco A9K-RSP5-TR is a Route Switch Processor designed for the Cisco ASR 9000 Series Aggregation Services Routers, specifically for packet transport applications. It is the next-generation system processor for the ASR 9000 Series Routers and supports high-density 100 Gigabit Ethernet line cards, while also providing backward compatibility with the third generation of line cards. The RSP5-TR features a system architecture designed for new programmable deployment models and convergence of Layer 2 and Layer 3 services for wireline, Data-Center-Interconnect (DCI), and Radio Access Network (RAN) aggregation. It includes an 8-core, 1.9 GHz processor and two 128GB solid-state drives (SSDs). It has the capacity to control up to seven switch fabrics (two on the RSP and five on dedicated switch fabric cards). Uplink ports include 1x Console, 1x AUX, and 2x Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 LAN Management ports. It brings carrier-class capabilities of Cisco IOS XR Software to the Carrier Ethernet edge.
