The R6515 is a single-socket platform built around AMD EPYC 7002 and 7003 series processors, Rome and Milan. Two things decide whether an upgrade drops in cleanly. First, firmware: Milan parts require a current BIOS, so a server that has sat on old firmware needs an update before the new CPU will post. Second, thermals: higher-TDP processors can demand a different heatsink and fan configuration than the one installed, so check what is in the chassis before ordering the fastest part on the list.
